Frequently Asked Questions.

What is life coaching?

In the simplest terms, it’s a process that can help you become the greatest version of yourself. We will work together to set goals, determine passions, define purpose, and plot out the ways to achieve everything from your wildest dreams. It can be challenging. It can feel impossible at times. It can also be the most rewarding, impactful journey of your life.

Coaching is a relationship. Like any successful relationship, it works best if both parties are fully invested.

We show up every week ready to listen, reflect, challenge, encourage, motivate, and provide accountability. This process is extremely successful when clients are willing to take what we discuss in sessions and apply it.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Therapy is about your past. Coaching is about your future.

Coaching is geared toward taking all your thoughts, desires, musings, etc. and turning them into tangible elements in your life.

Why a platypus?

It is an odd choice for a logo, especially since it doesn’t undergo a transformation like, say a butterfly. It’s such an odd, undefinable creature. It has characteristics of a mammal and a reptile. It looks cute but it’s also venomous. In many ways we feel similarly. We have many different traits and we don’t feel like just one thing defines us. Like the cute but venomous platypus, ours is the opposite- At first we appear to have a hard exterior. But underneath those layers of trauma are soft, kind, and playful people. We constantly challenge ourselves to bring those aspects to the surface and peel away the harsh exterior.

What are the expectations?

We expect punctuality, honesty, and commitment.

Attending every session is paramount. Even if the mental or emotional commitment isn’t there on certain days, still showing up is a major accomplishment.

Speaking openly about beliefs, goals, struggles, etc. is vital to the journey. We will always be honest and direct. Our hope is that you will as well, even during challenging times.

Commitment doesn’t just apply to showing up for sessions. It means having the fortitude to take on things that push you outside your comfort zone. Understanding that growth and change only come from new ideas, new experiences, and trials. Forgiveness is the other side of that coin. Allowing yourself grace and humility when things are at their hardest, is extremely important to remember.
